As president of the Val-des-Monts Country Music Festival it is my pleasure to share the brief history of how the event came to life.
I have always dreamt of organizing such an event in my home town. In 2009-2010, I had the opportunity to organize two country music themed evenings with help from the Chevaliers de Colomb of Saint-Pierre de Wakefield.
Following the success of these events, my wife Lucie Déziel and I discussed with Mr. Richard Loyer and and Mrs. Nicole Maisonneuve-Loyer on their involvement in organizing a larger scale country music festival. Without hesitation, they accepted and joined us in becoming the volunteer founders willing to work day and night to create the first edition of the Val-des-Monts Country Music Festival.
Because we were looking for sufficient grounds to implement our project, we approached my cousin Josée Miron, who gladly joined in the adventure by lending us her ancestral family lot located near route 366. We now had the ideal location to hold the festivities! After receiving encouragements and much needed advice from the organizers of the Bowman Country Music Festival, we subscribed to the Regroupement des Festivals Country Western Folklorique Québec, Ontario, Nouveau-Brunswick. From then on, it was official; we were able to choose the festival's first inaugural date.
The first edition of the Val-des-Monts Country Music Festival was held from June 16 to June 19, 2011 and many visitors from across the province answered the call. We repeated the experience in 2012 and had a record assistance. Once again, festival goers seemed to greatly appreciate their experience. The shower of positive comments was our reward and we knew that we had successfully put together a gathering and greatly appreciated country music festival.
I would like to thank all our financial partners who believed in our festival as such an event is made impossible without substantial contributions.
I would also like to thank our main partner the Municipality of Val-des-Monts who was on board from the very start by contributing financially and by providing support in many other operational aspects.
I would also like to emphasize the invaluable help from our team of volunteers without whom the success of the Val-des-Monts Country Music Festival would not be possible. I send my warmest regards to all who worked diligently towards the success and radiance of our music festival.
In closing, I would like to sincerely thank Mrs. Lucie Déziel, Secretary-Treasurer, Mr. Richard Loyer, Vice-President and Mrs. Nicole Maisonneuve-Loyer, Administrator for their constant efforts, substantial contribution and constant dedication towards the festival, an event that all residents of Val-des-Monts are surely proud of. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the 10th edition of the Val-des-Monts Country Music Festival to be held from June 14 to 18, 2023. I hope to see you turn out in large numbers.
